The concept of MDT diagnosis and treatment mode can be traced back to the 1960s and 1970s. In 1965, the Northern California Children's Development Center put forward a plan to develop a multidisciplinary diagnosis and consultation clinic for mentally retarded children, and stressed the importance of multidisciplinary cooperation in the clinic. At present, many cancer diagnosis and treatment guidelines in Europe and the United States stipulate that all patients with confirmed tumors must undergo relevant MDT consultation before receiving treatment. 之前无线曾在k100节目上向观众承诺将在华视《包青天之五鼠闹东京》单元播毕后播出续集，为不惹口舌之嫌，无线遂立即在香港组织人员开拍港版《包青天》，并高价请来狄龙演出包公。该剧一拍就是80集，共有16个单元。每个单元有充满传奇色彩，而当中发生的奇案都涉及法理与人情，每个主角的背後都藏有一段不为人知的过去。而且因为弃用了台湾制作班底，使得港剧更像一部香港古装涉案剧，少了鬼怪神话因素，彻底将包大人凡人化，因此，该剧一经播出，也获得了不错的收视。
