《极恶非道》系列电影故事聚焦于东京黑道帮派之中的权利更迭，内部的势力争夺以及与警察的猫鼠游戏，都是这个系列的主题。其实早在2012年拍完《极恶非道2》的时候，北野武就透露过，不排除拍摄《极恶非道3》的可能性，而第二部故事中的太多留白似乎也为第三部埋下了伏笔。北野武就表示过：“很喜欢看到人们被我的电影震惊的样子。”据悉，第三部虽然目前最终片名未定，但故事依旧是在前两部的基础上延伸。
