该剧以“一事不再理原则”（一旦处理过的案件不再审理的法律一般原则）为背景。讲述男主5年前因为杀人案被起诉，最终被判无罪。但之后他因为其他杀人案再次被起诉，在裁判过程中他自白自己是5年前的杀人案的真凶，但因为“一事不再理原则”而无法接受处罚。将讲述即使犯人自白了，却无法惩罚的法律的讽刺故事。
